OUR COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE
Welcome to the Strategic Earth Community of Practice
At Strategic Earth, we believe meaningful change begins with how we listen, learn, and relate to one another. Our Community of Practice brings together professionals who care deeply about building trust-centered relationships in their work and communities. Through reflection, dialogue, and shared learning, participants explore new ways to strengthen connection and understanding.
As this community has grown, our primary offering has evolved into a Quarterly Indigenous Author Book Club. This reflective learning space centers Indigenous voices, lived experience, and relational understanding.
During each gathering, participants engage with a selected book by an Indigenous author and explore how the themes resonate in their work, relationships, and approaches to community engagement.
Rather than traditional book discussions, these sessions function as facilitated learning spaces. Participants examine the histories, systems, and lived experiences reflected in each text while considering how these perspectives inform their own professional and personal practices.
The Strategic Earth team brings more than 30 years of experience supporting inclusive dialogue, culturally responsive engagement, and trust-based relationships across communities and institutions. Through our Community of Practice, we are honored to convene a learning space where curiosity, reflection, and thoughtful conversation guide the experience.
Quarterly Indigenous Author Book Club
The book club is facilitated by Teresa Romero, Director of Native Nations Engagement at Strategic Earth. Teresa brings extensive experience supporting meaningful engagement with Native Nations and communities and guides each conversation with care and intention.
Each quarterly session focuses on a selected work by an Indigenous author. Together, participants reflect on themes such as identity, history, cultural continuity, resilience, and relationship to place.
Throughout the discussion, we explore questions such as:
-
How do these stories expand our understanding of Indigenous perspectives and lived experience?
-
What assumptions or dominant narratives do these works challenge?
-
How might these insights influence the way we engage with communities and one another?
Participants are encouraged to approach each session with curiosity and openness. No prior expertise is required—only a willingness to listen, learn, and reflect alongside others.
